Summer @ a North Sea beach

I spent the larger part of last weekend at a North Sea beach. For people from the west of the Netherlands this mostly isn't that special, but for me as a girl from the east of the country, where there's it's just woods and meadows, it is :-).

Feeling the wind in your hair and the sun shining in your face, breathing in the salty sea smell, walking barefoot in the sand...it gives me a real 'holiday feeling'!

To hold on to that feeling, this picture sure helps. But it's not just a picture of the delightful beach in the early evening sun. Last Saturday was 'Reddingsbotendag', or something like 'Day of the lifeboats'. The Dutch lifeguards showed the public how rescue actions with a lifeboat work. At the left of the picture you can see the lifeboat, at the right the amphibious vehicle that transports the boat into the water.
